Hi All
Just bought the Acoustic Solutions DVD-222. Does anyone know of a region hack for this to make it multi region?
Thanks
Dave

Try these settings, quite often applies to more than one player. Let me know if it works?
Model: ACOUSTIC SOLUTIONS DVD321, DVD421, DVD451, DVD651 1. Press the Open button on your remote control to open the drive tray.
2. Press the Setup button on your remote control.
3. Press the Next button on your remote control.
4. Press the Previous button on your remote control.
5. Press the Next button on your remote control.
6. Press the Previous button on your remote control.
7. A code should appear on the top left hand corner of the onscreen display.
8. Using the direction buttons on your remote control, change the code to VER 1 for region 1 playback, VER 2 for region 2, and so on, or VER 255 for multi-region playback.
9. You can also change the code to VER 3001 to enable parental controls, or VER 3000 to disable these controls.
10. You can also change the code to VER 4001 to enable Macrovision, or VER 4000 to disable this feature.
11. Press the Setup button on your remote control.
12. VER5000 plays VCD and VER5001 disables this feature.
You may need to use the up and down buttons to select the region option before you change it.
Model: ACOUSTIC SOLUTIONS DVD521, DVD551 1. Using the remote control, key in the following: Setup, Next, Stop, Pause/Step, Prev, Next.
2. You should now be in a secret menu where you can change the region from 1 to 6, or All for region free.0 -
Nope, neither of them work
Could partly be because A) the drive tray is manual, and
there aren't any Previous or Next buttons on the remote. I tried various permutations and swapped the Prev/Next buttons for other buttons on the remote, but no dice.
Just in case it matters, the player appears to have been made specifically for Argos, and it even has "Argos Ltd MK9 2NW" stamped on the back along with the CE symbol and voltage info.
Oh and if anyone else is thinking of buying one, it's very noisy unless you get it angled just right... the disc sounds like it is rubbing on the drive tray flap. It also gets very hot!!

Hi, you might have figured this out already, if not I found out that the AS DVD-222 is a rebadged Starlite DVD-222 and you can use the following to make it region free:
Power on the DVD player.
Open the tray.
Key in 9735 on the remote.
A secret menu should appear which lets you change the region as well as showing you the firmware revision and other settings.
Set it to region 0

the 5168 multiregion hack below worked fine for me. Player bought november 2008 from argos.
I'm really impressed for the money. also plays other formats including xvid as long as the audio is encoded with mp3 format audio which most of the stuff on the internet is.
see this review..
