Sorry to go off topic - but I am slightly concerned about the M& S credit notes being printed onto a receipt. Is this the same paper that till receipts come out on that are heat printed??? as they fade over time (in some cases very quickly) and that would render them useless.

A while back my dad was sorting through his filing, and noticed that where he had a guarantee on something, the receipt had totally faded and was a blank piece of paper!! luckily he didn't need to make a claim, but others could be caught out.

I used to work in a shop with the heat printed shiny receipts and they did rub off/disappear as have receipts in the back of my wallet from other retailers.

Apologies if I am getting the completely wrong idea!!! (don't shop in M& S very often!!)

    Sorry Lucyxx,
I only just read your posting.
I agree with you and other posters about this move to paper "till printed" credit notes as being a very bad move.
BHS are doing it now - and also have expiry date.

For some reason it reminds me of the Harry Potter books - where the Leprechorn Gold actually ends up disappearing !!

I pay the shop in legal tender, if I am getting a refund etc, why do thy not reciprocate?
My money to them does no 'expire' after 3 months. It is safely in their bank account

Also, back to the 'paper' refunds - I am sure I read that some retailers deliberately have receipts ( normal till receipts) where the ink disappears over time - think this may have been GAP.
Again at the time I read this, posters suggested photocopying receipts - but it is a bit much to expect shoppers to photocopy every receipt and credit note in case the original fades before they can use it.
Bet they wouldn't honour a photocopy anyway - how can you prove YOU bought the product originally, and didn't just copy a friends receipt ?
Seems to be that the retailers are covering their own backs on this - again - to the detriment of the shoppers.
