Travel Flight Socks - £1 or £12+

I know that their effectiveness is debated but I am looking to buy some just in case.
The ones you see everywhere are the scholl socks which cost around £12 per pair but I have seen some different types costing much less than this - £4 and even a quid(either poundland or poundworld).
So what do people reckon? There can't be so much technology involved to warrant such price differences can there?

I asked my GP about them and he said, "Just wriggle your toes"

I do the travel sock thing and its not comfortable but Im at risk of DVT.

The best thing to do is drink lots and lots of water. More water than you usually consume. It will ensure you remain hydrated and you need to get up to pee all the time!! Best way to keep the blood circulating in my experience and Im a regular long haul flyer.

I have got both the Scholl ones and a cheap pair from Aldi/Lidl (cant remember which) and I actually prefer the cheaper ones.

I dont find them uncomfortable and I think they are reassuring. I also drink plain water and try to move around as much as possible.
  • I was kind of wondering the same thing as there also seems to be a difference in compressions i.e. scholl 14-17mm/hg (whatever the mm/hg means!), others 10 mm/hg and some don't even state what compression so don't know whether a cheap pair will do the job.
