Strange Equifax Alert!

Options
I had an Equifax alert this morning. It is related to an old CCJ which was partially satisfied, and when I found this out, I paid the rest off and have been chasing Capital One to have my credit reports amended.

The Alert said 'One of your accounts has recently had caution flag added, amended or deleted. This flag is an indication to the lender that a new risk is present. '

With this information:

Previous Information
Company Name: Capital One Bank
Account Type: Credit Card
Account Number: XXXXXXXXX0854
Flag : Partial

New Information
Company Name:Capital One Bank
Account type: Credit Card
Account Number: XXXXXXXXX0854
Flag :

Now, what I can't put in the message is that next to to Flag on New Information is a yellow box, but no text in the box !!!!!

Does anyone know what a blank bright yellow box would mean??

  • That either equifax or Cap one have completed the entry incorectly !

Speak to equifax in the first instance and see if they can spread any light on the situation.
 It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them

  • Hi
CAUTION... just be sure to use standard connections to Equifax through a secure website that YOU looked up.... NOT A LINK SUPPLIED BY THE INCOMING E-MAIL..... Occasionally, scammers produce e-mails which look like reputable companies but with the intention of getting you to feed a little more information to them athna they already have. Its part of the identity thefts which are around us at the moment and there is a need for caution when replying to ANY site which ASKS you to provide personal details of any kind. Only use trusted access points to those companies you must contact.

I don't mean to scare anyone, merely to inform that these things exist and extra care should be taken. Cheers. Bob.
  • Well........Equifax weren't exactly helpful...the reply...

'A caution flag indicates to the Lender that whilst the account may be
current, there is now a risk present that may impact future repayment.
However we don't know why Capital one have created an alert regarding this. Therefore we must recommend you contact the Lender direct regarding this matter.'

It's an account closed nearly five years ago......sigh.....ah well, guess I need to drop them a line. My report has been updated in that the account now shows a 0 rather than satisfied and the delinquent balance has gone from £519 to £0.

The CCJ still isn't showing as satisfied so I reckon I might have to approach the court to get a certificate of satisfaction to send to the credit agencies.
