Hi Paul,
You shouldn't have changed the car to your girlfriends name, you have disposed of an asset, the OR will not be happy at all. If you needed the car for work you would most likely have been able to keep it. When you sell the van the OR will ask you what you have done with the money, make sure it's used for essential stuff only.
The OR will take nothing from your house, ever. Unless it's full of expensive antiques. You don't put any of your household stuff on your forms.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
yes peachys right about swopping the car to your girlfriends name they will see it as disposing of assets and you do have to put it on the form. as i had to put my previous car and got asked why i sold it and what i did with the money.
so even if you say you sold it to her as you needed the money you will have to account with what you did with the money from the sale so if it was worth alot you will have to explain and if you sold it for far less than its worth the OR can sometimes snatch it backIf you want to see the rainbow ,you gotta put up with some rain0 -
hi there thanks for that i have not yet changed the car so thanks OK will they take it .0
-
do you use it for work??
example
my car is only worth £300 but because i dont use it for work they are taking it even though my nan is a dependant
but then others have been allowed to keep it so depends on the ORIf you want to see the rainbow ,you gotta put up with some rain0 -
There is nothing definite regarding cars - its one of those things you can't guess, just have to wait and see. Do you need it for work?

hi i need money could i sell my car and i will have to use the money for rent what would they say about that0
-
thanks for that no i have a van for work but my girl friend needs the car i have a little baby or will that not matter
as i said in earlier post i have 2 kids and transport my elderly nan to hospital appointments and they still wont let me have it
and selling the car it depends how much it was worth whever you sold it less than its worth. if its a few hundred then not to worry but if its a few thousand and your saying its only for rent it may get questionedIf you want to see the rainbow ,you gotta put up with some rain0 -
We were allowed to keep our car. They did ask us a lot of questions about it but at the end of the day the OR said it would cost them more than the car was worth for them to come and take it so it was exempt. We would be lucky if we got £500 for it so they had no interest after we explained we needed it for work and taking the kids to school as we are fairly rural.0
