Hi everyone ...
Just wanted to jump in and say hi, I have been looking/lurking on the site for weeks and finally took the plunge in two ways - registered for this site and made the decision to apply for bankruptcy. Feel a bit sick but a bit better at the same time.
I'm approximately £22k in debt (I think), just waiting for Equifax and Experian to send me my credit report(s) so I can do my statement of affairs. Think I'll be cracking open a bottle of wine when they arrive on the doorstep.
I'm 28 this year, have a four year old little girl who I adore, and don't want her to grow up and follow the same pattern I have with my mum.
Any advice, words of encouragement or slaps on the hand for being such an idiot where money's concerned will all be gratefully and humbly received.
Thanks guys - and can I just say that reading some of your stories, I am convinced I have come to the right place x x x

Hi Scattynat
A very big welcome to the forum and well done for deciding to get sorted.
Now, have you put together your statement of affairs yet?? If so do you feel like you want to pop it up on here?? We might be able to help you find an alternative way out of this, and will be able to explore your options with you.
As for shock horror - Check out my siggy for where I was when I found this place £34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

As soon as I get my two credit reports (I wonder if they have a reinforced truck to deliver them???) I will be posting my statement of affairs. Like I said, bottle of wine will be firmly in hand at that point!!0

Well, as a bit of background, I am 28 in April, my first (and only) was a surprise arrival - indigestion turned out to be a "in its seventh month" pregnancy - hence the out of control spending .... Just kidding, I was in debt waaaaaaaaay before she arrived!!
Here's to getting out of it and being sensible from now on! x0
