That's why Mortgage advisers need to become FSA approved persons like IFA's and tied/multi-tied Financial advisers are.

I'm not just ANYONE btw, I'm probably far more educated than a lot of mortgage advisers put together and I come from a science background so I'm highly analytical and ethical. I also have business to business sales experience and I've been (as a hobby) always interested in finance and equity trading.

To be honest, with your constant "boasting" (and your sig) you come across as a bit up your own backside.

That will not work if you take that attitude out in the field with clients. The last thing they want is someone who comes across as acting like they are superior to them. They will not transact business with you.

    No offence, buts it's true.

BSc and MSc degrees, Sales and Marketing certificate and now training to be a Financial Adviser so he can make some money to travel around the world and drive fast cars before he hits 30... is that too much to ask??

so this "would be" adviser wants clients to invest then "money to travel around the world and drive fast cars before he hits 30"

Ethical!........commission driven or client driven........you decide!

None taken, and fair do's to the boasting comment too except for the constant part.

TBH yes I do boast but at the same time I'm always respectful of people and their opinions and i'd never be arrogant out in the field, in here it is amongst "friends" in a safe environment. What I meant by my post is that I'm not just anyone and I put a lot of thought into my career path. The reason it sparked my post was this comment
I think the reason some of us get a little spikey with would be new commers is the fact one minute they are a hairdresser, the next they call themselves an advser, which is preposterous.

No becuase I'm a strong believer in a fee based only approach so someone can provide the right product. I believe that money is a byproduct of hard work and good ethical values. It's just a joke sig anyway! But now I think i'm going to change it if it annoys people that much

I don't plan to be away that long, and I have enough friends in the industry who would support me in the same way I'd support them.

Man I'm getting slated today! I guess I walked straight into it!

No I'm not perfect, I'm as far as I can get from it and boy do the MSE forum members let you know!!

At the end of the day we all want to make as much as we can. Thats natural and I have no problem with that.

The reason I said it was that I used to know a financial planner who worked for a bank. Did very well (altho was a bit of a slime). Bought himself a porche.

Soon as he went self employed he struggled for business. Why? Soon as he pulled up outside someones house in the porche and walked in with his shiney pointy shoes and thick pin stripe suite, they realised he was earning a bucket load and didnt a. trust him or b. want to line his pockets.

I respect you for putting so much effort into your career. Its a better contribution to society than those who choose to live off the state (CHOOSE TO, NOT PEOPLE WHO CANT WORK BECAUSE OF HEALTH REASONS), but it just doesnt go down well when you wave your sucess in the faces of those who you want to transact business with.

Fair play on changing your sig, I think that was a good call. Good luck with the studies.

    1. Zero is better than a loss, which you WILL make entering the mortgage market now.

    2. Why would you target a Polish market when most of the Polish workers in this country are returning to Poland due to now being able to earn more money at home than here, due to the recession?

Believe it or not, I am actually giving you some damn good advice here. Polish target audience or not (financial and business suicide anyway), you still have to write your suitability letters in English.

I would not be impressed to receive something that said "do you has a" etc.

Having CeMAP 2.... I see no relevance. (Have they changed the rules on this? You always had to do CeMAP1 before you could register for 2/3 when I did mine).

If you want to start a business that will fail from the word go, then be my guest. You clearly have not researched your market, the market in general, or where the role of the mortgage broker is headed. This will all lead to a swift faliure.

I really am not trying to be mean, I am being realistic. Try getting a job with a bank (if you can, mortgage adviser jobs in banks will be like gold dust at the moment), where you will get a salary and some training. If the call for brokers comes back, then re-visit your idea.

    1. First of all I am not going to target only polish market!!! Maybe they are going back to Poland (people talk about it and don’t have a clue how many of us still here), but
some of us came to this country long time ago and have settled.

    2. I am fully aware of writing suitability letters in English, no problem!!!! Have you ever heard about Tool Box?????? It helps a lot!!!!!

Where did I write “do you has”??????
I would write do you have!!!!!!!!

“Everybody, anybody, nobody, anyone and someone/somebody it to be used with has regardless of number of persons in the group” – this is not something I made up!!!!

Just out of curiosity how many languages do you speak???????

    3. Regarding CeMAP1 TEDDYRUKSPIN already answered your question.

    4. Recently I start my new job as a Trainee Financial Adviser and I believe this is the future for me!!!!!

I agree with you regarding banks, but it is very difficult to get there.

I am sorry for my English!!!!;)

Have you ever heard about Tool Box?

oh dear. poor you. Toolbox suggests you are a personal touch member. Never mind. When you grow up you can join a real network ;) (jk)

I do agree you have been a picked on a bit here but it does no harm to realise that you are joining a profession that has far too many people already, is losing numbers more than it is gaining at present due to market conditions, that typically loses half the people inside two years even in good times and a lot of the areas where people were earning good amounts have gone, probably for good.
