Save the date cards...

I was wondering if you send the same save the date cards to the evening invites only that you do to the wedding and breakfast guests? I would imagine most people could come to the evening without booking holiday off work (but need to let them know as they could be away...).
Would save the evening cards be a better idea?

I only sent STD cards to people who were invited to the wedding and the evening. I didn't send them to the evening-only guests as I think that the STD cards imply that you're going to invite them to the actual ceremony.0

I agree. I don't think we sent out cards, just told the people who were important to us, and let word get around to others...
Surely a mass email would suffice?0
