Great Wedding (Honeymoon) Gift List Idea

So, me and my beloved wife to be have just got off the phone to The Turquoise Holiday Company to finish booking our honeymoon with them to go to Bali (http://www.turquoiseholidays.co.uk/honeymoon/bali) and then they mentioned the most fab thing to us ever...
... I'm not sure if anyone else currently has this problem, or can think back to when they got married, but when it comes to wedding gifts from friends and relatives and they ask the inevitable question, "what would you like?", what on Earth can you say?
This is where our personal honeymoon holiday co-ordinator at Turquoise Holidays came in to her own! "We have a Honeymoon Gift List available to you if you wish?" - These are the only words we needed to hear.
In a nutshell, the process is as follows:
1) Book honeymoon and make a deposit.
2) The Turquoise Holiday Company send you a supply of cards stating the wedding list will be held with Turquoise. On this card, you then just add your personal booking number and send out to friends and family, or you could just email them the details.
3) Voila, that's pretty much it! As the Bride & Groom you can login online to personalise the list in anyway possible, see who has contributed and more. And friends & family can either call Turquoise or using your unique pin number, guests can login to your honeymoon gift list (http://www.turquoiseholidays.co.uk/honeymoon/gifts) and see exactly what you want!
Besides, who wants to buy a kettle when instead, you could buy a romantic cruise on an ancient dhow for the moneymooning couple to watch the sunset over a desert island? That's a memory which will last forever!

Hi, yes you're right. But we are very travel orientated (thus the gifts are like upsells for things while on honeymoon... activities etc) and these where the first travel operator to bring the idea to the UK from Italy, apparently.0

I used to work for a travel company that offered these gift vouchers
One thing to be cautious about, is if the travel co goes bust before your wedding, you won't get your holiday! The company I worked for went into administration and there were a lot of people who lost their honeymoon as a result!0 -
Hey.
Yes, you are so right. We would be absolutely devistated! All you can do is make sure you are covered in as many ways as possible, ie, company is ATOL protected, etc, etc...
Also, yes... the service is a bit more than 'gift vouchers'... for example; friends and families log in and see items they can contribute too, like xxlaurissaxx said, how John Lewis & others do it for retail item.

Methinks this is spam....and hardly a new idea. Friends did this with tehir wedding list at Trailfinders.MFW 2019#24 £9474.89/£11000 MFW 2018#24 £23025.41/£15000
MFi3 v5 #53 £12531/
MFi3 v4 #53 £59442/£393870 -
Yes when I got maried last year there were many companies offering this sort of thing, it's hardly new.0

'My Fathers Daughter'... errr no, definately not. Selling holidays to sunny locations all day long and then looking outside at constant rain would be way too depressing for me! :rotfl:0

I for one think this is an excellent idea ... might have to get married all over again!!That's Numberwang!0

Loads of holiday companies offer this, my cousin got married 3 years ago and their gift list was at trailfinders, everyone gave what they could afford and they had an amzing honeymoon! It is a good idea though!0
