No jobs

My cousin has just been on the phone for a chat, she like many others has just lost her job last week, (was working in well known toy store). she went to the job center to inform them and to sign on - the person who she saw told her not to bother looking for work as there isnt any . i bet he wouldnt say that infront of co-workers.

Well that's really helpful. Sounds like she could do his job better than him

Its always very quiet early on in January, by the end of the month there should be a lot more roles being advertised.

Maybe it's your lack of basic grasp of plain English and spelling and grammar that is putting them off. Here's hoping you use spell check before you send the applications.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hmmm....I understand where this is coming from...ie the idea that there are no jobs. BUT ....it is always worth canvassing suitable prospective employers off your own bat...as many jobs dont get advertised via the Jobcentre. I've certainly found jobs before now by doing this. Always worth a go.

They searched for jobs for my industry before, there were none, which is hardly surprising as I work in TV! He just done a quick search on a website and that was it.

The job centre is useless for finding work. You're better off doing it yourself.

My husband lost his part time job before Christmas and has been trawling round all the DIY stores and all the major supermarkets in our city. Everyone he has spoken to says "sorry mate, there's nothing". He is currently delivering Yellow Pages, a week's work for £68. It's lucky we don't really need him to earn, but it must be awful for those who do.

I think the OP has a valid point.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Hi all, myself and my husband were made redundant in July lat year, my husband was in his job for 25 years. We were banking on several job promises, but as of yet they have all come to nothing thanks to the current climate, those companies have actually been laying off people.
I have been looking on job center websites etc and the only jobs seem to be carers, domestics and repping jobs, which are commission based. The amount of people that are becoming unemployed is really quite scary .
