Anyone used flyglobespan?

Hi, we are heading to Orlando Florida this September and are considering using flyblogespan as they fly direct to Orlando Florida from Belfast.
Has anyone flown with them before? What was your experience?
Another option is a package deal using flybe to get to Gatwick then Virgin to get to Orlando.
Has anyone done this option or flown with Virgin? Again what has been your experience?
I know that baggage allowance with flyglobespan is £25kg then another £15 per 10Kg. If we upped our alloance to 45kg then the flyblobespan ticket would be about £40 more expensive per person than the flybe/Virgin package with baggage allowance 40kg.
I hear flyglobespan is cattle class and isn't a very pleasant experience but Virgin has more space with free meal and drinks. Although I think there is about 4hrs waiting time at Gatwick both ways.
For those that know, which flight would you choose??
Can you think of any other alternatives? I know BA fly from Gatwick too but can't offer a through flight form Belfast so we'd have to sort out the flight between Belfast and Gatwick ourselves which would be expensive considering the baggage allowance we require!
Thank you

Last year we found the cheapest flights to Florida were from Dublin. The bus from Belfast is very good.
We're flying Heathrow -> San Francisco next week with Virgin. I'll let you know what we thought when we get back.0 -
we are booked to fly with them this september. a guy i work with has used them for a few years now and he says they are fine - the seats are a little cramped, but apart from that its grand. another friend of ours flew with them to Canada in the summer and she also said they were fine.
i didnt even look into any other options because i wanted to fly direct from belfast - i hate flying and the thoughts of having to fly to london first would put me off, so for me a few pounds extra is worth it to have a direct flight.
we have also paid extra to allocate our seats, which was a risk as we may have been able to grab those seats anyway, but again, for me its peace of mind - i get uncomfortable and claustraphobic sitting on a coach from portrush to belfast so i dread to think what i would be like on a 7 hour flight!! :eek:0 -
We always fly direct with Thomas Cook, however friends of ours flew with flyglobe last year and they said they were fine. The cheapest flights I can find are with BA from Gatwick and flying into Tampa - around £1200 (last time I looked) for 2ads & 2 kidsThe shinbone is a device for finding furniture in a dark room.:TBig thanks to all competition posters:T0

My son and I flew with them in September 07 and it was as good a flight as any I have had. Apart from a 40 minute delay from Belfast I have nothing but praise for Globespan.0

Hi
Have you thought about using Continental? We use them every year and although you have a change over in New york, you clear immigration there so when you get to Orlando you just collect your luggage and go. You have as well have a baggage allowance of 46kgs of hold luggage each and 18 kgs of hand luggage. When we used them in May last year we done a stopover in New York and had 3 nights there and it only cost us the price of the hotel as the flights were the same whether we had a 3 hour stop or a few days, flights have always cost us around £398.0 -
spkng from experience they sell flights at a good/r5easonable departure/return time the at the last min they change it
or even cancel it altogether
wary of globespan now.....Time is the best teacherShame it kills all the students

Flyglobespan do not have a great reputation. This is not so much to do with on board service but more reliablilty and tech delays. They were also fined by the CAA for maintenance violations (well publicised) last year. Try a search in the travel section.
I've flown a fair bit with Virgin and they're the best of a bad bunch these days. Their seat pitch is better than Globespan and their service would be better than the American carriers. That said, they aren't what they used to be.
The Charter carriers have good enough service but seat pitch can be an issue unless you upgrade.Timmay!0
