Hi
My name is Toni, I have been with my fiancee for 4 years now. I proposed to him on valentine's day 2008 and we are getting married in Barbados on 07-08-09 and having a church blessing and reception at home on 22-08-09.
Our budget is £9k but I am trying to come in under that as it will be extra towards our savings towards a house.
Barbados 10 nights, all inclusive including wedding package, hairdresser and photographer is £4,200. It's going to be absolutely amazing, we are marrying on the beach at 4pm then having sunset pictures.
I got my dress from ebay for £56, made to measure from a shop in China and it is gorgeous. D'zage replica and I love it.
We are having a photographer for our blessing and reception and have worked out a good package for £900 to include full day coverage, album, photos on cd and prints.
Managed to get our rings in the sale at H Samuel for £249, they had £100 off so they will be put away in the cupboard.
We are having reception at our local pub where we work and are having the function room, bar, sit down buffet, choc fountain, DJ and wine on the table for 80 people for £500.
Those are my best bargains so far!
Anyone else marring on 7th Aug? Any other abroad brides? :j

Nowhere so exotic, registry office in Huntly :rotfl: . Not even thought of a budget, I work in a hotel kitchen and the chef says he'll make me a cake if he gets an invite to the wedding.... I think he was serious lol. Not really interested in the whole reception thing, might just ask the hotel I work at for a small buffet thing, they do lovely food there.DFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!

hi poppycracker! we work down the pub in the evenings and they are doing us a sit down buffe with wine at just a fiver a head, bargain! we were going to have it at a lovely venue which was £200 to hire but then we'd had to have got caterers in who wanted to charge £15 - £30 a head! So we've gone for the work option. As long as everyone has food, drink and music to dance to, that's fine!xx0

sounds like a good deal toni! Not sure I could get it down to £5 but you never know...
Like I said, we're going for no frills, I have a horror of big do's, never did play weddings when I was little so not into all the frills....
We're going to have my friend and OH's friend as witnesses, and if I let him, OH would probably turn up in his work overalls!!!DFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!

Hello Toni! Fancy seeing you here!!
Ben and I are getting hitched either summer 2010 or 2011, depending on when we've saved the money!!
We're planning to go abroad but struggling to agree on a location at the moment. I've bought the pattern and fabric for my dress from ebay, and having it made up by a local dress-maker. I was going to do it myself but it's far too tricky.
Party when we get back at the local football club's bar (it's only 5 mins down the road and a great location).
Nothing else to arrange at the moment.
I'm sooooo excited about it. Just want to set a date, but can't do that until finances are sorted out.0 -

hi gemma! ha small world!!
Destination is something that took us ages to decide. We decided we didn;t want cyprus or too close to home, considered greece but then thought we want to go somewhere once in a lifetime type plcae - so narrowed it down to barbados, bahamas, maldives and cuba. Some needed blood tests and you can't get married in the maldives so we eventually decided om barbados

Hi Toni - DF and I are planning on getting married abroad in March 2010. we also looked at all different areas and Barbados was one of them - but we couldnt get the cost down like you have - any tips? We are looking at Palm Island at the moment which is south of Barbados but looking at about 6k without any of the extras like photographer, hairdresser etc although the basic wedding package is included.
we wanted some where quiet, secluded and a bit away from the tourist areas so any tips would be gratefully received!!!
oh - and congrats!!!!!

Hi Jenny!
We found a company called White Sand Weddings and they have arranged it all for us! We are getting married at Hotel Casuarina. You tell them what you want and they send you details and you book everything through them. I have delat with the same lady the whole way through and she often calls to check how things are going - her email is saraca@whitesandweddings.co.uk if you wanted to email her and say Toni has recommended her, I'm SURE she wouldn't mind trying to help! She is getting married in Barbados in May so can't wait for all her tips when she gets back!!0
