LA Fitness 1/2 price (price differences)

Apologies if this has been posted before. I did have a look but couldn't see anywhere. I'm hoping this is the right forum???
I had a flyer through the door earlier in the week that advertised half price LA Fitness for a year. This worked out at £35 per month at my local gym (doesn't sound half price but isn't bad). This allows access to all clubs outside of Central London.
I thought I'd have a look at the gym local to my work and the price was £37.50 per month. After digging around a little further I've found one gym at £30 per month. If the membership allows access to all gyms outside of Central London why is there a price difference?? Has anybody come accross this and signed up successfully at one of the cheaper gyms and gained access ok to a dearer gym?

La Fitness half price offer at £35 a month is a joke. That is probably their normal price per month. My local southwark council gym is around £35-£38 per month, only the one really nice gym in bromley cost about £70 a month.
Best to phone that cheaper gym and ask if access is allow to their other branch.0 -
la fitness monthlyy prices are around £60.00 pm month for central london
they are higher coz they areprivate and all have a pool
however i find it is bet to check out a couple of the gyms in question as they varie alot in floor space and gym equipment.0 -
I get subsidised gym membership with LA Fitness (Loughborough) via my work, which costs £34 p/m. If I remember correctly it should be £45 p/m at my gym on their 'normal' rate... however under the 1/2 price sale these same memberships are going for £35 p/m, not £22.50!!!
Work that one out?!? I think LA Fitness have increased their prices for a week to £70 so they can advertise 1/2 price, which isn't really 1/2 price at all.0 -
I went in to a La Fitness Gym in Leadenhall Street in London just off Fenchurch Street. They offered me free joining fee, Unlimited access to all gyms including London and two months free for £38 a month and that was in November. At the moment people are cancelling their membership more then rejoinning and they are crying out for more members. Work out how much you want to pay and tell them this is what you want to pay even if they meet you half way it cant be bad thing to haggle.0

Wow! I thought I had a good deal but thats much better!
On looking through the website I found that the membership I wanted (able to visit any LA fitness in the country apparently 88 gyms...) was £47.50 a month but was told it was half price. I was told they didn't know when this offer was ending but they readjusted all fees and offers at the end of every month.
I got 2 months free, no joining fee and was going to join anyway (my local gym is £40 a month,) the opening hours around christmas were a joke and are every seasonal holiday period (10am to 2pm every day for 2 weeks) one year they decided to "revamp" and closed for 2.5 weeks without giving any more notice then 3 days (hmmmm, me thinks health and safty got involved!) the gym needs air conditioning, BADLY! the sound systems always break down atleast 4 times per 60 minute class and the showers are so mouldy they actually scare me and make me want to vomit. We (members) had been complaining for years. Its sick! I left. But will miss the class teachers and friends I made there-
So by all means check out your local,- hopefully its not as grim as mine! (Greenwich) and no LA fitness is not all that, but in terms of cleanliness (although not perfect) is better by miles then my local gym.
I just wish they had a decent variety of machinary at LA fitness and I wouldnt feel so boredThe gyms very small- though not as tiny as fitness first!
