  • What an exellent idea Minimoneyme. I'm very handy with the sewing but I'd also suggest Super Mend. It's a tub of granules that you sprinkle on then iron to set - a bit like Wunda Web. This may be better on white/thin fabrics as it would be less obvious than stitching.

No frost here last night. Typical.

Try soaking them in bottle sterilising liquid. It works on bras etc. ( tip from a lovely old colleague)

A few days ago I saw a program on TV called 'Kim's Biggest Challenge' (or something like that!). Anyway, it was Kim from 'How Clean is Your House' and she told the woman on the program to get white clothes really white you soak them for two whole days in a strong solution of biological washing powder before washing (she did it in the woman's bath!). Have tried this and it worked really well. Polyester/cotton school polo shirts came out much whiter. I used one full scoop of powder in a large builder's bucket full of hot water.
    Hope this helps.

(Have just re-read this and realise how sad my life must look - I do have mates and a life............honest!)

Haven't tried this but an old lady in our village once told me that the best way to get stuff white again is to leave it to dry in moon light - apparently better than sun light???

There is no such thing as moon light, the moon doesn't give of it's own light. It just reflects sun light.
