Wedding Themes: Where to start?

I've looked at lots of wedding themes and some of them seem so far out there I wouldn't like them, but then just having a colour scheme seems too similar to everyone elses wedding. Basically has anyone got some ideas of where I can get inspiration for some subtle themes or anyone got any great ideas that they are using to make their wedding a little bit different and one to remember? thanks in advance

Well, we've got a rough theme in keeping with the edwardian building we are having our wedding in. We are basically trying not to be too modern with the decoration, dresses etc. Not totally sticking to it as OH is not wearing a full morning suit or anything. Sorry, really difficult to describe!
I guess it would be nice if it fitted in with how you are as people. I.e. people who have got favourite activites/hobbies, or styles that you like."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -
Why don't you buy some magazines? They might give you some ideas.
When is the wedding?
You could do the theme on the time of year it is. For example: summer wedding - beach theme, spring - flowery theme etc.
Or how about a retro theme? We had space hoppers and pic n mix at our wedding!:j

hi jamtart6
I didn't have a theme in mind but now I've actually got the dresses a jewel theme has sprung to mind as the bridesmaids are in a 'jewel' purple colour.
I think in the end you'll know what you want when you see it!
Congrats on your wedding! We're currently trying to get ours booked for June/August and all the places we've contacted have had spaces available so I'm sure you'll be fine for September.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Please tell me where you managed to find dresses that colour."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
op,I would probably start with a colour you want and see if you get a theme ifdea from that.e.g. black and white would make me think of big band and hollywood and cocktails.red and gold would suit a medieval theme with suitable musicians and a hog roast.pink and pale green an english garden party theme with cream tea etc.
My colour scheme is purple and black and I dont have a theme really but if I had to put a theme along with it I would say gothic but elegant gothic,i.e no skulls or leather."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
A friend got married recently and there was a basic colour theme to link the flowers etc. But it was in yorkshire and all the tables at the reception had a different yorkshire brewery ale on the table, beer towels and mats.
the whole wedding reflected the personality of both the bride and groom. The men got a bottle of that ale and the ladies got a bottle opener !
Is there anything you are both passionate about that could be your theme?0
