Made redundant on 15/12/08

I was made Redundant on Dec 15 after being in work for almost 32years with only a 4 week break when i was made redundant before. I havent had any luck with finding work my PILLON payment was £5000 and thats all i had in the bank.My wife only works part time£350 month as a cleaner and is recovering from a long period of mental health problems i have applied for J S A and housing and community charge benifit.I have no clue as to how much i might get since ive never claimed anything in my life before. Can anyone give me an idea of what i might get if anything ..i phoned to see how my claim was progressing and was told due to the high number of new claims it will take 4 weeks to resolve.Meanwhile my bank account is down to 3k :O( and i still have to pay my loan rent etc etc

Well JSA will be just over £60 a week. You can phone up the number for new claims on their website (0800 number), and the call lasts about 40 minutes (I know, it's a long time!).

You may be able to get some Housing Benefit based on you and your wife's combined income. The best way is to phone your local council.
