Discount Furniture Direct gone bust

I bought some furniture from DFD in August for my new baby's room. I waited & waited until November but no furniture! So I cancelled. I checked my credit card statement in Jan & discovered no refund & no more DFD. I made a claim though Egg money & they have just got back to me today saying that they "cannot raise a claim for goods that have not been received when you have requested that the order be cancelled". I find this outrageous. Can any advise me how to get my money back?0

Just incase anyone hasn't been updated, Discount Furniture Direct Ltd is now in liquidation. A receiver has been appointed, and I have noted below the details.

I have been contacted by the Insolvency Services who stated that they may be able to deliver goods, where they still remain in the company's warehouse. This is not the case for me. However, failing that, as I paid with my credit card, the bank are now willing to repay the amount to me.
It's about time!!!0 -
Just a quick note.
I work for a supplier of Discount Furniture Direct and when they went under they had about £4000 of outstanding orders with us (retail value about £8000) they also owed us £4000. Dave the boss called us up to apologise saying that things have not worked out and that he has had to shut down, this was the week of Christmas. I tried calling him after that to ask him whether he would give us details of all the customers who had outstanding orders through our company to try and fulfil them, however he did not answer my calls or return our messages. I heard from a competitor of ours that we got off lucky with just £4000 as they were done for £60000.0 -
thanks for the information
I would use a credit card next time although my debit visa account was credited with £3590 -
I have today googled Discount Furniture Direct. Clicked on the link and hey presto, it takes you to a company called Discount Furniture Deals!!!
I guess they are back in business? I shall contact the receiver tomorrow to see about registering a claim. I may also just ring this company too
Incidentally, I have re-ordered my bedroom furniture from a place called Furniture For you, based in Rugby and could not have dealt with a more helpful company. The goods we ordered, were delayed by the manufacturer and as we had taken next week off to build it up, they very kindly offered us an alternative that was already in stock. It is a higher spec and is a more expensive product, but they let us have it for the price we were purchasing the original one at. Their attention to your detail is second to none and I would not hesitate in recommending them for any future purchasing you may do! :T0 -

Isn't that a bit dodgy when they re open in a different name? Or are they just re-branded?Never Say Die I've tried it and it doesn't actually make people die0 -
It has taken since November 08 to get a refund out of Barclaycard regarding Discount Furniture Direct. Although I am pleased about it I'm also pretty disgusted as it took the Financial Ombudsman for Barclaycard to get their act together.0

I bought a bed on 23rd Sept, cancelled it on 9th Nov due to their delays etc, and didn't get the refund despite chasing! I paid with my Lloydstsb Debit Card, they've been helpful today and asked me to write to them with a copy of the invoice to deal on my behalf. Better than I expected as I didn't think they would be interested with it not being a credit card. Fingers crossed.
Like others I've kept an eye on their webpage to see when the receiver details would be given, imagine my surprise when it brought up DF 'deals' today!!! Absolutely disgraceful.0
