42" TV for under £400 - wrong price??

my DH has just returned from our local Argos after taking his mum to pick up a TV which i reserved online for her earlier today.

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5293520/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+entertainment+and+sat+nav%7C10199181/c_2/2%7Ccat_10199181%7CTelevisions%7C10199303/c_3/3%7Ccat_10199303%7C40+and+42+inch+LCD+TVs%7C10199306.htm

At the checkout he was told the TV was not £399.99 as advertised online but the full price of £489.35. My DH then asked about another similar TV advertised at £399 and was told that also has the wrong price advertised.

He then spoke to the assistant manager who looked online and confirmed the TV's were advertised at the lower price but said the store had been notified that the online prices were wrong

I have now phoned CS and complained, the person i spoke to apologised and said the online price should have been honoured. CS has now been in touch with my local store and my DH can now go and collect the TV for the online price.
DH's Mum now very happy with a 42" TV (with pretty good reviews) for under £400 :T

It's an 'OK' TV, but think I'd spend a few £$£$ more on something from Richer Sounds, maybe?

There are several good rated sets, to chose from, in their limited range.

Thanks OP - just picked up the last one from the Coalville branch this morning! Had to do a 40 mile round trip to get it, but from what I can tell so far, it's well worth the money.

I haven't got piles of cash to splash on brand names and have always gone for cheapy brands in the past without any probs so fingers crossed the same happens with this one! Plus, I'm not a huge TV watcher anyway, so it's ideal for me.

Was gonna go for a 32", but when they are all minimum £320 at the mo, so for an extra £79 for an extra 10 inches ;) then why not!

FYI, it also came up as full price in store, but I had printed off the full info before I left (showing that the price was valid until 16th Jan) so all the cashier did was double check online and changed the price without a bother.

I also had £15 on my nectar card too, so an even better bargain!

    Thanks again!

I just want to add that I sat near it earlier, whilst giving my old Goodmans TV a wipe down before Freecycling it and the Goodmans remote works the new telly too!

I was well baffled though, cos I'd pressed all sorts of buttons whilst cleaning and hadn't realised and soI hadn't a clue what I'd pressed, and all the menu came up in German!

So, I took advice from DD7 (yes, 7!!!) who calmly said 'well, if the old remote works then why not just press the AV button to get back to the NTL channels'!!!

    And guess what? Bl00dy smart4rse!!!

So, does that indicate that it is definitely/possibly a Goodmans TV rebadged?
  • Acoustic solutions is not a rebadged Goodmans though most entry level tvs use the same circuitry and come from the far east. Argos import Acoustic Solutions as their own brand. Goodmans is part of Bush/Alba.
