Can anyone suggest a way of dealing with a lingering smell.
I have a wooden bread bin. A couple of weeks ago i forgot about some bagels in a plastic bag, and they were very mouldy when we found them. The mould hadn't got on the wood, but it did smell. (It also made other bread in packaging taste funny)
I have used an antibacterial spray on the surface, and i have tried putting dry bicarb in to see if that would absorb the smell. That's been in overnight, but the smell is still there.
The wood shouldn't get wet as this can cause it to warp. I'm about to chuck it out if i can't find a suitable way to clean it, so any help would be gratefully received.
Thank you,
Michelle

Try cleaning the breadbin out with bicarbonate of soda and lemon juice. That should get rid of the mould and make it smell fresh.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

To clean wooden chopping boards you can rub with a lemon, i would think that would work in a bread bin too. To get rid of mould, wipe with vinegar and leave to dry with the bin open.
