Strange phone call (new york comp)

Just had a phone call from a bloke confirming all my details were correct as I had entered a trip to new york competition. Apparently the draw takes place in 2 weeks, has anyone else been phoned?
I didnt tell him anything he read my details to me, and I just confirmed, is this usual?

What New York comps have you entered? Is there anything in the T&C's about being called to confirm your details?
Must admit its very unusual for someone to call you in advance of the comp finishing.Thoughts:

I've had this before when I entered a New York holiday competition with a stationery company. They phoned but were trying to sell me something until they realised it's just little ol' me in my business. Yes, I do make all the decisions but no, I don't need loads of stationery!
