is this ok? reason for going br

hiya just finished my final statement for the br form on why I am in this situation - can you have a read and see if it is ok or not - all feedback welcome before I write it in :

Things were ok when I first took credit out as I had a very good job with a blue chip company and earning a very good wage and my job was secure. Then in 2004 after a series of health issues I had an operation which meant I had to take 12 weeks off work (which was fine) but before I was due to return I had a serious problem with my back which was out of the blue and ended up bed ridden and unable to do any day to day tasks even walking or sitting. It was found I had ruptured my lower disc and the next disc was herniated, the ruputured disc had trapped and crushed my sciatica nerve which brought more issues. I underwent another operation to remove the disc and repair the nerve but even though the operation was actually successful recovery has been very prolonged and still suffering due to this. After being on long term sick with my employers for 2 years I went under a full medical investigation with them and it was decided that for the foreseeable future I would not be able to return to work in any capacity so they terminated my employment and gave me a disability pension to run until I can return to some form of work (which I still have not been able to). During this time my husband had already started working for himself and set up a Limited Company. After a few years cashflow in the company was struggling and he could not pay himself a wage, but he carried on working hard to grow the business. My husband then suffered from very bad stress which result in him loosing his hair and having chronic fatigue. We ended up living off credit to get us through daily, when we realised that the we could not carry on like this he got a full time job with another Company to help pay our bills – this was in March 2008. Hoping to be able to manage our debts we originally set up payment plans with creditors themselves but was still too much money going out on a monthly basis so set up an IVA in February 2008. However after a few months we were in arrears with our mortgage and struggling even to live, by this time we decided we could not live of any more credit and tried to work out an agreement with the mortgage company to have an affordable payment we could meet each month for a restricted period of time but the mortgage provider would not assist in anyway and proceedings started for the repossession of the house. In the meantime we could not meet the IVA payments either and there was no flexibility here too. We had to concerntrate on finding a house to rent for our family and the house was repossessed in October 2008. After speaking to Citizens Advice Bureau about our situation the only conclusion to the situation was to petition for bankruptcy. My husbands company had to cease trading too and this ceased in September 2008.

thanks guys :o

    hi clanbailey,

To my untrained eye it seems fine - Are you putting this in the box for "cause of BR" or as other info at the end of the forms?
We have something in common - my debts started when I had to pay for a laminectomy on my spine to remove a fractured vertebra, which my GP had decided was "wear and tear". It was only when I moved abroad that someone had the brains to realise it was a whole lot worse than that. Unfortunately the NHS doesn't reach the other side of the Atlantic - I had to pay.......
Look where it has got me now - 5 years later!
    Thanks the great British NHS!

One thing i notice is that you say your OH got a job in march and then go onto say that you set up an IVA in february ..

Not a big deal but the timeline struck me as a bit odd that's all :)
    :hello:
Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.
An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind

The back is much better and the finances much worse!!!
Mine came from an old accident when I tripped on some stairs carrying a saddle and landed on my spine. I had the pain for over 10 years getting to the stage where I couldn't walk properly (sciatica) - my GP sent me for physio, with a broken back! Ouch!!
Very best of luck to you - I am sure your BR day will be fine.......
