Debt counseling training

My previous employer has generously given me a £3000 training allowance. I am interested in becoming a debt counselor. Does anyone have any knowledge of courses/qualifications that would be of benefit?

I'm guessing it would also be of benefit to have suggestions/a list of who would employ debt counsellors. No point having a qualification if there are no jobs for it where you live.0

Although it's not about debt counselling, the Open University do a very good good course on Personal Finance, which is highly recommended. I found it very eye-opening, as well as being a good way to get back into study and learn essential study skills, if you haven't studied for a while. The financial savvy it teaches you would certainly be a good background for helping other people deal with their finances.2021 Targets

I am not necessarily looking for a paid job in order to use the qualification, more CAB type volunteer roles, I'd like to give something back to society after a large redundancy payment.0 -
NVQ in Advice and Guidance could be useful. You would have to provide evidence for actually doing the task so would need some way of getting experience. Volunteering with the CAB would be one way but this could cut into your working time and you might need to negotiate some time off.0
