in Cutting tax
Hi,
I'm looking at sorting out tax cliams for the past few years I'e been at work since leaving university and wondered if anyone was able to advise on the following?
I am not self employed and all my pay/tax is sorted through my companies payroll.
At present I undertake a job that requires visits to construction sites and requires me to spend time there to conduct my work. I have heard (correctly or not) that it is possible to claim expenses for washing my work clothes at home if no facilities are provided at work for the pupose of doing so. Is this correct?
Work does also not provide all key pieces of my site clothing. I wear normal office attire in the office then have to don site clothing to visit site; this i purchase all myself. Is it posible to claim expenses for this?
Any help would be much appreciated as the governments tax website is very confusing!
Cheers,
Adam

Would doubt it unless you are specifically employed in the construction industry. Try this link - agreed fixed rate expenses you can claim through your tax code.

If you are provided with clothing by your employer that you have to wear (eg a uniform), then you will be able to claim. If you are simply wearing your own clothing for work, it's unlikely you'll be able to claim.0
