in Cutting tax
I work 2 jobs, mon-fri job and a saturday job. My main job is PAYE, and my staurday job is also PAYE but taxed at BR rate. My saturday job adds around another £2k to my overall yearly earnings. Im looking for a new job. If the new job asks how much money I currently earn and a tell them my salary plus the £2k (but I wont tell them about my saturday job), will they be able to tell that Ive been paid say, £22k, but £20k has come from one job and £2k from another job, or will they just be able to see that overall Ive been paid £22k and so assume its just for 1 job?
I hope Ive explained this clearly. The reason why Im asking is because I want to inflate my current salary. Theres no point in me lying about my salary if they can then find out Ive lied, but can they tell that Ive earnt that money from 2 jobs and not just one?

When you leave your main job your new employer will get your P45 showing the 20K pay rate.0

They can't tell beforehand unless your old employer mentions salary if they apply to him for a reference
In theory they might tell from your P45 from your old job once you start (pay to date not high enough) - however I doubt if they look at them that closely. In a large company they won't be seen by people who care, just by payroll clerks - or even an outsourced payroll service0 -
By the time you are handing over a P45 to them it's beyond the point that they will be able to say anything. Bear in mind you are not obliged to answer questions about your current salary. If you feel pressed then you could always answer obliquely with something like 'I'm looking to at least equal $Oldsalary so around £22k minimum'.0

Well all your employer would see would be your p45 from you current full time job. and surely that would be after they have taken you on anyway?0
