If you pay enough National Insurance each week, then yes.
Once you've send in your sick note, your employer must either pay your SSP or send you a form saying why they don't believe they have to pay it. There are notes on that form for what you do with it, but you can claim a benefit if you're not entitled to SSP.
Note that the first 3 days of any claim are 'waiting days', for which you're NOT paid SSP.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
the problem is because i only do 18 hours a week i dont earn enough to pay national insurance or tax even so i guess that means im not entitled to any0

You need to earn over £90 a week, NI doesn't make a difference

ive just been told by someone that because i only do 18 hours a week i will only get a percentage and that it would be about £8 does anyone know if this is true0

It's not true: IF your earnings are high enough, then you get a higher daily rate if you work fewer days than someone working five days. BUT the first 3 days are 'waiting days' for which you don't get SSP.
See this link which explains that, and this is the Employer's calculator, but someone else may be able to give better links.Signature removed for peace of mind0
