Any advice on how much to pay for booze at a gastro-type pub

Hi there,
We'll be having our wedding summer of this year and trying to keep it simple, but wanting to spend where it counts (dress!!...food and drink). At our gastro-type bar/pub (already pricey for drinks) in North London whre we'll have the reception, how much should we expect to (reasonably) pay for bubbly and wine. If we are going with their food catering is it possible to negotiate bringing in your own cases of bubbly for example to keep costs down?
I want to go to our first meeting ready to haggle and knowing what to expect, so any advice would be so much appreciated!

depends on the venue, but most have a corkage charge, if you dont buy their drink. expect to pay about £1.50 per bottle, so unless you know of some really decent tasting, very cheap wine, it tends to work out roughly the same price, as you could have bought inhouse for anyway
also most venues charges their normal bar prices, so unless you can get them to cut you a deal, expect to pay £20+ for a house wine, and £30+ for something sparkling.
where weddings are concerned most venues see it is a licence to print money, so getting a deal of any sort is hard work
If you are having the veue closed for your function, you have to factor in that prices will be high, as they are going to have to make sure their income doesnt drop for that day. Ok a wedding party on a tuesday afternoon/evening and you have some leverage, but choose a friday/saturday, then you have to expect to pay for it
