    Air dry really. Replace regularly.
Know nothing of £30 sterilizers, but putting the cap over the brush is not in my opinion a good idea. If any bacteria is present, imagine how it would love the damp protected environment covered by plastic. Perfect breeding ground.

    As Toothsmith says, air dry.

I know nothing apart from kitchen hygeine. That says damp is bad. Damp and warm is worse. I would definately leave your toothbrush to dry.

Is your thinking directed toward the spray given out when we flush the loo, and contaminates the toothbrush?

Yucky thought, but then so is the hand towel etc contaminated. We could drive ourselves mad with all this.
Please don't think that I am mocking you I've been all through these thoughts too.
One consolation. Apparently our toilet bowls hold less harmful bacteria than our mouths.

My conclusion, better be a Lav. attendant than a Dentist.Safer.

    Dunno  (sorry not helpful).

I soak the head of my electric toothbrush into a cap full of strong Listerine (kept for that purpose) every other day. Seems to work for me. :)
As long Penny Watcher you only rinse your brush in Listerine, not your mouth.
It is alcohol based and therefor not good for the mouth. I made the mistake of bying it, so now use it in my foot bath before my pedicure.:D

That thought hadn't crossed my mind, until you mentioned it.

  • Surely you can eliminate the spray of bacteria from the toilet if you make sure you put the lid down before you flush?!

Thankfully I dont have this problem as my toilet and bathroom are separate!

Toilet's at the bottom of the garden, and the bath's in front of the fire in the living room? :D
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I put our toothbrushes in the dishwasher to clean them. If it's good enough for the cups we drink from then I assume it's good enough to clean the toothbrushes :D

Surely if this was a major problem the human race would have died out shortly after the widespread introduction of flushing toilets?
