hi
ive just found out that they are changing how we get paid at work
i normally get paid every 2 weeks, but have now been told that the last fortnightly wage will be paid on the 28th feb, and then its moving to being paid 4 weekly, so the next pay after the 28th feb will be the 28th march
which means i am going to have make 2 weeks money last me 4 weeks, and i am on a tight budget and cannot afford this,
can they do this? they have offered to give me a loan but it has to be paid back within 3 months, but i'm still worse off if i take the loan
i dont have any savings or credit cards
my contract says i will be paid evry 2 weeks, will i need a new contract now
thanks
colin

They have given you plenty of notice of the change to pay period.
They have been very reasonable in offering you a loan, presumably interest-free.
You could refuse to accept the new condition but it can't really be worth it - unless you fear your company is becoming insolvent and you may not be paid at all.
Take the time to learn to budget for a 4-week pay period.0 -

How will you be worse off? You will still have been paid the same amount of money over the same amount of time.
The company have offered you a bridging loan to help you budget for the change, and have given you notice. I don't think it is unreasonable - yes they will need to amend your contract.
If you speak to ACAS they will tell you if anything is untoward, but it seems perfectly reasonable to me."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -
Based on the info given it seems as though the company have done more than they are obliged to i.e they dont have to offer a loan and theres plenty of notice of it happening. I am with the previous poster, the amount of the loan would presumably be the amount you would have got paid so I dont understand the problem of taking the loan, setting up a new budget and paying the loan back on the first pay day but the company have offered 3 months which to me is very generous.Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!0

you never know.
maybe they will pay you your 2 weeks money + 2 weeks in advance on the 28th of Feb giving you enough money to last.
This would obv mean that if you left your job then you would be 2 weeks short in your last wage. x0
