    Hello Leiela

I'm sorry I can't offer any helpful suggestions to economise but it does sound as if you are trying too hard. I'm sure your children are perfectly well nourished & happy with their diet which must be better for them than most of their peers, so stop worrying!

Please don't take offence as I am not being rude but I am very curious as I've never heard of a diet such as yours.
What would happen if you didn't follow such a strict diet?
Do both your jobs depend on such a strict diet?
Would you be ill if you weren't on this diet?
What did you eat before you started this diet?

    M
PS Why does your husband not eat fish/soya/tofu? If it's not actually harmful to his regime could you not sneek some into something tasty like chilli/curry?

Thanks for the suggestions guys i'm definatly going to look into the slaughter house thing that might be a good option.

Well sitting in my house right now i've made a chilli that "eeek" i have padded ever so slightly with lentils, it's not perfect but to be honest i think im going to HAVE to find some balance here.

The simple fact is that i CANT AFFORD all this meat, if i can cut it down even slightly even if it means bending the nutrition plans my trainer gives me a touch then so be it, i figure if i eat 90% of what im told ill get 90% of the results and as i can't afford 100%, 90% will just have to do.

Okie dokie just to show how serious i am over this whole thing ive started abit of a blog

    http://eatingcleanonabudget.wordpress.com/

I've posted a list of all the food etc i have in my cuboards there, take a look if you have any meal suggestions then that will help.

Well last time i auditioned for a dancing job i was told to get my fat !!! off the stage before they even watched me dance *UGH*.

I'm a software developer which is where my income comes from but dancing is my passion, it will never pay the bills but other than my kids it's the reason i get up in the morning.

As for the diet yes i could change it, and i could probabally get good results on another diet. BUT ha there is always a BUT right, im currently paying a personal trainer who writes my training sheduals and nutrition plans for me, it seems abit silly to pay her all that money if i don't follow her advice?? don't you think??

Also i've had an amazing physical transformation since i started training with her in August. People can't belive im the same person, it's kinda a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" situation.

My Trainer is amazing, her training plans and nutrition plans are amazing and clearly work REALLY well, i don't want to risk tampering with it too much because i love the results im getting.

I've spoken with her about the "money thing" and she's going to look into including some cheaper protien sources in my next plan (i get a new one once a month) and she's given me some guidelines to follow while i clear out my cuboards, which is great because she's willing to help me sort out the finances and not alot of trainers would be willing to do that.

Before the diet i eat pretty normal food like everyone else and as for my husband lol ... soya, tofu is for "rabbits" his words not mine, fish is disgusting (again his words) Also his on a wierd carb cycling diet atm so most days he's pretty low carb, lentils etc has carbs in them so he can't eat them "most" days, trust me though the days he eats carbs EVERTHING is getting padded haha.

  • Hi

    Just a thought;

Have you been to any Sunday car boot type events near you?

We have one near us in Bassetlaw (Worksop). It regularly has a refrigerated mobile butchers truck. They sell carrier bags of meat for a tenner or less.
It's not unusual to get several joints or whole chickens in your booty.

I suppose not having the overheads of a static shop they can sell cheaper.

On the down side I suppose, the cheaper the meat the more likely 'suspect' its origin one could argue.
That said we've never been disappointed.

Thank you for your explanation I understand it better now. Sounds like you have a good trainer who will take some of the strain for you. Look forward to your next plan.
How rude of the audition people to say that!!
How do you find a good trainer? Is there an organisation they belong to? Do you have to be fairly fit to start with? I've often thought about getting one but am a bit worried about the cost & whether I could stick to it. (probably not):rotfl:
    Good Luck!

    Good Luck!

Well tbh it was quite strange, i had a personal trainer i was paying at my local gym £30 an HOUR which was crippling me financially as you can imagine, and i joined a website for figure altheletes as i have asperations of compeating myself someday, basically from the information of the site and the distinct "Lack of Results" i was having i realised that my trainer was really awful, so i left her.

I asked around trying to figure out a way of going it "alone" as it where. when one of the trainers on the site offered to help me sort of an inital plan because she felt sorry for me, i was so lost and desperate. (she's an proffessional online trainer)

Anyway she was amazing helped me get my first training shedual and my nutrition sorted, which was great. Anyway a few months went by and she kept giving me bit's of help now and again nothing solid but enough to let me make some progress.

In the end i asked her how much she charged for a full proffesional plan etc partly because i was getting some good results and wondered how much better id do if i her train me full time and partly because i started feeling kinda guilty for the help she was giving me.

Anyway concidering i'd been paying £30 and hour twice a week for a woman who pushed me well in the gym when she was there, but gave me no idea of what to do when she wasn't there or how i should be eating (90% of getting in shape is down to diet, no matter how hard you work in the gym you can't out train a bad diet).

Anyway concidering i was paying £240 a month the £40 charge of the online trainer seemed damn reasonable especially since i already knew this woman knew her stuff and i'd already got good results from her.

I've been with her full time since August going from 29% body fat, to 15% gaining muscle everywhere, im in a size 6 again down from a the size 12 i was in april, but im not skinny. im muscular and toned (well working on it haha) just today some guy got in a huff because i asked to share the machine he was using, i guess i hurt his pride when i needed to up the weights from what he was using to do my set's, 6ft men don't like getting shown up my 5ft girls haha.

Anyway i love my trainer, love what im doing and i love my new body which i never thought i'd say again after my kids pulled it all out of shape.

Tbh i don't know how you'd go about finding one though regular channels, i got my first though the gym but tbh she was awful so i'd never do that again, i think there are websites on the web etc that advertise them and as for fitness you don't really need to be fit before you go to a trainer, most people who are already fit don't need them because they obviously kow what they are doing already. I know my trainer train's alsorts of people she's got a few proffessional body builders and figure althete's but i know she's got a few mums like me, some in similar shape i know one of her newer lady's is a nursing mother trying to get rid of about 100lb of unwanted weight and from speaking with her i know she's never stepped foot inside a gym before.
  • Just some quick thoughts: can the trainer combine food plans for both of you so that with some comprise you can both get what you need? An extra £40 could save you a lot of £chicken (+prep time!) Re kids, could you combine less healthy food with veg etc. Will take longer to use up but you might feel better about it. Finally if you've worked out what your food budget is then it might help your OH prioritise if he helps to work out the food plan!
