It has just come through the trade wires that 1000 jobs will go from Cattles as they reduce New Busineess Lending by 75% through their subsidiary, Welcome Finance

Times are tough everywhere.
I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

However, I have since seen the light.

With the publicity Welcome Finance get on these boards it sounds more like good news than bad that they are downsizing.

Presumably not for the employees (and families of) that are losing their jobs.

It's a doubled sided thingamy, I'm not sorry organisations like these are struggling, but am sorry that people will lose thier jobs.

With 850,000 customers it is hardly surprising that their name appears on boards such as this.

Unsurprisingly, happy customers tend not to post about their creditors on internet forums so we all get left with an impression of the company from the viewpoint of the grumpy ones.

Whilst it appears that they will get little sympathy from the majority of the posters here, it is another blow to the government's stated attempts to deal with the problems caused by financial exclusion in this country.

    Very True!!

The 'grumpy' clients are the ones who don't pay.

What is their thinking? 'We'll borrow this money and have no intention to pay it back'

This is what has messed the country up. You borrow, you pay back.

i agree with Tassotti welcome finance helped me as best they could considering my past credit history i would have no problem passing their name to others ( no im not an inside worker for them !! ) although the apr's are high, us with bad credit even through no fault of our own can or should be trusted at first second time around , its a good step back on to a better credit rating etc , lessons are there to be learnt im afraid and i found out the hard way four years ago !!:o
  • Welcomes rates were extortionate, good riddance to bad rubbish, have a read of this http://www.blagger.com/db4/company_id/740/companyname/Welcome-Finance.html

They were high rates but they lent to high risk clients, whose chance of defaulting is much higher than someone who'd go to a high street bank for example.
