  • Are power surges common? Are these devices worth having?

Worth having if you are running a couple of PCs off the same extension, or anything expensive

Not just surges, but loss of power from new things youve just plugged in.

But does loss of power harm equipment?

It can or can spike at the same time too... Although power lines are regulated, the odd and I STRESS odd time it has been known to spike and cause problems with electrical equipment... If the popwer cable is hit be lightning, came have a surge... The above will cut any of these out....

I bought a couple of these from Maplin about six months ago as they were half price at the time.. Not now, but the above looks good too... ;)

Run all my pc's on surge protectors as well as dvd. tv and V+ box too...

    ;)

These are definately worth having, had a lightening hit on outside pole a couple of years ago and it melted the inside of the router box!!

there are some on half price in sainsburys at the moment, a six socket for £4.99 with a 2m cable and some others, but not too sure of those prices

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I guess these are alright but I wouldn't be happy with 90 days or even if it had a better guarantee.
Try a Belkin which are lifetime guarantees and you might not pay much more for them.Companies like Amazon may also do free delivery but there are others of course.Remember to add postage to the OP item.

I recently had an 8 plug Belkin for about 6 years and the switch had a slight jam up.Anything Lifetime always worth hanging onto your receipt.

I went on the website, filled out a simple form and received a free postage sticker which need attaching to my parcel.Sent the item off to Belkin UK and received a brand new replacement and it was the latest model.

    I think it's beatable.

There were even 2 packs of 4 for about £11 I saw a few months ago
