Debenhams refund policy

Hello everyone

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum, I'm pretty new to this ...! I wanted to return a sale item to Debenhams that had been reduced by 50%, and was told I could only exchange for other goods. Are they allowed to do this? Only thing wrong with it was it didn't fit, it wasn't faulty.

Yes, in fact they can refuse to exchange it at all, as it's not faulty. Stores are under no obligation to give you your money back unless there is something wrong with the item.

Debehnams have had the policy of no refund on items reduced by 50% or more for about a year now. However, I bought something in Debenhams today and was told that they are again changing their refund policy so that you only have 14 days now instead of 28 for returns/refunds.

wow, that's very interesting, I think it sounds like they are struggling to compete with the likes of Tesco/Asda/Matalan. My sister had a 50% off item and it was refunded without question about a week ago so I thought they'd snuck it in - !!
