I caught the end of Martin doing a money makeover thing today, where he was speaking about Sky.

His recommendation was to get rid of Sky, buy a Freeview box for £20 and save £550 per year.

Any reason why the recommendation wasn't to cancel Sky and get the free-to-air channels via Sky instead? That would save an additional £20...

I think it was just an offhand comment that Freeview would generally be cheaper than a digital satellite service. I suspect when he referred to 'Sky' he probably meant 'digital satellite', in the same way we say 'Sellotape' when we mean 'sticky tape'

It must be hard to be specific about one couples' financial situation yet have his advice remain general enough to be meaningful to all the GMTV viewers.
