Civil ceremony ideas?

The Mrs to be is worried that our civil ceremony wouldn't be as nice as a church wedding and won't last anywhere near as long, she's also likes hymns and is a bit miffed that we can't have anything.
I know we can have readings (but we couldn't have too many, people would get bored!) and the like but does anyone have any ideas as to what we could do the make the ceremony a bit more substantial?

Hi,
Have you and your wife to be thought of having a blessing after the civil ceremony? If it's not in the registry office it should be possible in a civil venue and as it's a none binding (legally) ceremony it shouldn't be too much of a problem. It can be of any denomination, humanist, CofE, Catholic etc.
Hope this helps and you and your wife to be can have the day of your dreams!!! Good luck!!:A :

I chose a civil ceremony for exactly the same reasons. If you have a few readings and put in your own promises to each other, it should take about 20 minutes. I always hate singing at weddings anyway!!0

my dd is considering a humanist wedding
then it can be done at a venue of their choice and they can make their own ceremony.0 -

I don't know if our registrar made an extra effort as we got wed on xmas eve but our ceremony was a lot longer (and better) than I expected

She said alot of things before the exchanging of vows about what being married is all about.... cant quite remember what it was she said though!:o I was expecting just the "I do solemnly swear" bit but we ended up saying a lot more in our vows which took us by surprise:eek:
Why don't you phone up/pop in to the registry office and find out what might be allowed to do?
