did they mean what they said?

hi, on the 17th december i was interviewed for a post and the hr manager called me to say although i wasnt successful for that post, they liked me and were impressed and she said that they had something else in mind for me, and she said she thought there may well me something they could offer me there. the job title was information advisor and she said it was on a lower salary point though, but i didnt care- i just need a job! she said shed discuss it and give me a call back about it sometime, but it would involve another chat and interview process, although they werent going to call it an interview per se and said they were going to call me.

now, i havent heard anything since, and i'm wondering if it would be bad form to email or call asking if they had sorted anything yet. i dont want to look desperate, bbecause on paper i'm a good candidate, but in reality i am desperate as ive been out of work for a month and a half and i'm broke and cant pay my bills! :P should i leave it a little longer of ring hr up and ask when it will be happening?
"What...? I was only saying...."

I think you should call them, it doesn't look desperate, just keen to work there. Good luck, it sounds positive to me though :)

Hi! I would definately agree with the others. I am a HR Officer and would never take offence to someone being keen enough to follow up on a job vacancy. In fact I would see it as a definate positive. There may be a good reason for the delay, but at the very least it will keep you in their thoughts. Good luck, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!
