SS. I know you have lots of meals to eat up from your freezer first but it really is worth batch cooking and freezing in portions so you don't have to eat the same thing too often. Main reason for posting is to tell you that bolognese sauce, chilli, curry seems to taste even better if it's been in the freezer for a while. It seems to go on marinating. If you spend an evening/afternoon doing a big cook-up it will stop you just buying a take away when you're busy or tired.
P.S. Some posters seem to be able to get really cheap tinned tomatoes (17p?). Where is this? They seem to have shot up in price where I am.0 -
if making up tomato sauce, I always put 1tsp (ish, or so) of sugar (brown, granulated, caster, whatever is closest to hand) and that really intensifies the flavor.

chuck a handful of porridge in. It will thicken up the sauce and make it creamy as well as making the meat go further0 -

Possibly Aldi's? Tesco are 21/22p I think and so are Lidls.
SS - try the downsize challenge like someone already mentioned. You need to look on the bottom shelves for the cheap toms and such likeTook me ages to find my rich tea biscuits

How much are value tinned tomatoes at the moment? Last time I went to Mr T's they were 33p! I'm sure they used to be only 20p max?Taking baby-steps :beer:0

SS, re the balsamic vinegar and tablespoons...
You don't usually cook with a tablespoon?? They are 15mls (3 x teaspoon) and usually come in a set of measuring spoons.
I remember my Mum had a spoon she referred to as a "tablespoon" and used it to measure things, but this was huge - about 50ml and was I suppose a table-serving spoon (it was silver and an heirloom). Dunno if you have something similar? *had vision of you using it to stir the pot*:o so sorry if I have to wrong end of the stick.
Remember though, if you don't like the sauce with that amount of balsamic in it you can always leave it out, or reduce the amount. Cooking is all about trial and error so enjoy it, and good luck on your cooking adventures!
