Call handler position for the Police

I am starting a new job in February as a Call Handler for the Police. I’ll be dealing with the 999 calls etc. I just wondered whether anyone else on here does it, or has done it in the past? I'd like to know whether you loved or hated it.
Im hoping it’s a step in the right direction, as I’d like to work for the Police and hopefully end up doing victim support / or something to do with crime scenes etc.
I was offered the job in October and am still waiting for my officially start date, I guess it’s good they do so many checks, but it’s so frustrating, as I’d like to get started.
I have 5 weeks training before I start the job. I am also starting a open degree which Im hoping I can tailor round the job e.g choosing crime related modules.

I know folk who have done 999 call handling and they loved it.
It can be stressful, but you will receive very good training to prepare you and you will have on going support once you go live.
(If it is still the same) you'll be in smallish teams and it'll be like being part of a family.
Good Luck with this and your future plans
