Swiss Roll

Hi All,
Made a swiss roll the other day and the nice top came off
I had a damp tea towel then the greaseproof paper and lastly the sugar on top ready.
I turned it out onto the paper and rolled it up straight away in the paper whilst it was still soft. Half hour later when I came back to unroll and fill it the topping was stuck to the paper with the sugar!
So I had this lovely looking roll with no sugar on.
How do I stop this happening again?
Thanks in advance all!:T

I made a swiss roll for the first time in ages and the recipe I used just said to have the paper and sugar ready, along with the filling. So you filled it then rolled it up, pulled the paper off and left it. It didn't get the chance to stick! BTW I did use baking parchment rather than ordinary grease proof paper.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.
