Accredited upholsterer for broken argos sofa

Hi I bought a leather suite from Argos in May 2007.
To cut a long story short, the 3 seater has collapsed in the middle and the wood is falling out of the bottom !
As the 1 year warranty is over and Argos have asked me to find an `accredited upholsterer to provide a report` to determine if this is a manufacturing fault.
Would a local upholsterer do to give me a report?
Thanks for any ideas and does anyone know of any in the Newtownabbey area?

have Argos got a list off accredited upholsterers"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

You could try Abbey Upholsterers, they're a long established firm, used to be in Whiteabbey village but they've moved, possibly in Carrick.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

Thanks
I e-mailed Argos about this and they suggested a company called Homeserve (never heared of them)
Think I might just try Abbey and take it from there...will probably have to pay for a report but imagine if its a manufacterers fault that I`l be refunded.
Fingers crossed I`ll get a replacement of a different suite or a refund
Thanks for the replies :-)0 -
Well - just as I thought
I looked up Homeserve on the internet and it appears that they dont have people in Northern Ireland on their books
Phoned Abbey and Glengormley hopholstery and they don do a report like that
Phoned Crest and nobody got back to me yet!!!
Will see what happens through the week...surely photographs and a statement of my consumer rights would do for Argos?
Will look into it0 -
Hello,
My Father in law has run his own upholsterery firm for many years and has been working for Homeserve for about a year. I'm not sure if Homeserve have a facility to provide a private report as its usually insurance/warrenty claims but if you want his details I can certainly pass them on.

Thanks for your reply - sorry I only noticed it today!
Crest in Newtownabbey got back to me and where very good and gave me a report stating that it was in fact a manufacturers fault...I posted it and now waiting for Argos to get back to me - I e-mailed them and they said they havent recieved it yet (or its not went on their system) such a long winded process...:-)0 -
Hi anyone who gave me input to this thread :hello:
I got an email from Argos who have told me to choose a new suite to the same value as the broken one...Quite happy with the outcome - especially as it was out of waranty :-)
Another problem solved:beer:0
