The reason he was unhappy is not because there is anything wrong with Preston in itself, but because it was just before Christmas and a long way from home....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

A quick Google search reveals that they don't call it dePreston at all.
Is there something wrong with Preston?
I have lived in many places and chosen to settle near there when I could have lived anywhere. I am not going to fight tooth and nail for the place but I did wonder why the general bad feeling. It is a city and city things will happen here but you are never more than 20 minutes from the countryside. One poster attempted to belittle the place (somehow) by displaying extreme ignorance of her own country.
It is not superb, but no city is.S!!!!horpe0 -
