    Hey BBB!!

I do the same as Skint_Catt and read the first couple of pages and the last pages of threads im interested in that are huge!! :D But sometimes i get too interested in the thread and end up spending hours reading the whole thing - so be warned!!

the links pink-winged have given are great - definitely have a read through them.

for me the most important part of budgeting is meal planning and making a shopping list from that and sticking to it in the shop. ive also found that using soda crystals to clean almost everything have saved me a fortune too!!

start by budgeting food, toiletries and cleaning, as they are the big outgoings, and then when you are confident with that you can move on to the millions of other ways to save money old-style!!

    xx
  • I reckon you can do it, I aim for £250 a month for 4 of us and a dog but sometimes run over.

Whats your storage like ie freezer space?

Could you get a job in a cafe/restaurant where they give you dinner? Do you study near a canteen ie hospital where you can get a solid meal fairly cheap?

Try porrige for brekky that should fill you up (made with water) have you read 'grub on a grant' or similar books for students, Im still use mine! http://www.grubonagrant.co.uk/ good luck!

I think the longer threads are definately worth a read and are usually very entertaining and interesting, they are a bit overwhelming though, so i tackle them in chunks. I read a couple of pages a day and keep the page opened in my browser and put my laptop on sleep at night (instead of shutting it down) so i know where i left off and don't have to keep looking up the older threads. I don't know if this will be of any use but OH and I have a food budget of £120 a month, we eat meat, ok we do grow our own fruit and veg, but I could certainly live and go out on £51 a week.......look at the old style thread and the recipe pages, you will get lots of ideas from there.

    Good luck.......
