in Cutting tax
I am full time employed and pay tax through my employer. I have also been doing some freelance work at home and have earned an extra income of about £1500 for the whole year.... My question is:
(1) Do i need to pay tax on these earnings
(2) Should I pay for an accountant, and how much would it cost.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, this income is taxable. If this was a one off piece of work, you just need to ask for a self assessment for 08-09 and complete it - you will then pay the tax by 31/1/10. If this is an on going job, you need to register as self employed and to pay NIC's by DD. On £1500 income, I dont see the need for an accountant, but it really depends on what the source of the income is and how complicated your affiars are.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

If you are not going to do this work any more, I suggest you just declare it as a one-off.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
