I couldn't agree more. This is my point and what angers me the most. Most parents believe they 'have' to buy Clarkes shoes or they will somehow damage thier childs feet. What children need are properly fitted shoes - this does not have to be Clarkes! They are very clever in conning parents into this and so overprice everything.
I have seen the inside of Clarkes shoes - made from cheap cardboard, if you think you are buying quality - think again.0 -

I'm nodding in agreement here too!
I've never been impressed with Clark's styles or quality compared to Startrite and other makes.
I'm fortunate in that I can afford to spend whatever it takes to get a well fitting shoe for my children-Clark's are very much at the cheap end of the scale given that I'm happy to pay £40+ for a well fitting good quality pair of shoes (I'd be a sight happier if I could pay a lot less though!)
I know not everyone is as lucky, but it's just how I prioritise-the children often wear clothes from Primark etc, but I'm happy to spend on their shoes0 -

I kind of agree. No the shoes don't need to be Clarkes, but don't think by getting a cheap pair fitted they'll be any good. The fashion especially in Asda and the like is to coat leather shoes is some sort of plastic coating so they don't scuff. Great but the feet can't breath either you may as well buy plastic shoes. I prefer Startrite.0 -
I've always got Clarks for dd due to her having an H width fitting.
They've always been great for school however the latest doll in the heel shoes I don't think are upto the same standard IMO.
The only bad experiences i've had was a few years back. My mum had taken back a pair which were creased in the inner heel and causing a blister after only 20 mins of wear. The shop would only give her 1/2 of the value back toward a new pair. I went absolutely mad when she told me because it was obviously a fault in the shoe that could never be rectified.
The other was in the latest pair we bought. They have gem type stones/plastic around them and after the 2nd day of wearing one fell off. Another within about 4 days. I got them from John Lewis but had already thrown the receipt as we got them in the school holls a few weeks earlier. Not sure where we'd have stood on that one.
Generally the fitters are great and especially helpfull seeing as there's never the biggest choice in the H fittings.
I think you get the odd bad button here and there with everything.0 -

I agree to a certain degree however (apart from start rite) no other shoe has ever fitted my daughter and believe me i've tried just about everything to cut the costs slightly. I don't think skinny feet are as much of a problem as wider though to be honest.0 -
Thankfully not had a problem with clarks except the doll in the heel shoes werent up to much. I go in every few months with the three kids for a measure and the shop staff are always honest if we need new shoes of not, Lasttime I was even forewarned of the sale so I could go back in two weeks.
I am brainwashed by the need for proper shoes though. My kids do wear Tescos, Woolies etc but I never feel 100% happy.:j0
