i was made redundant before christmas and i am currently getting job seekers allowance. i need to increase my chances of getting work, but i do not drive. are there any schemes where i could get free or cheap driving lessons through and goverment schemes.

You might be able to get funding for transport, but not for driving lessons.0 -
If you're married/in relationship, get your OH to put you on their insurance (usually not too expensive), then they can teach you to drive for free! You'd just have to pay for your theory test and driving test.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
