I'm thinking of buying either a elliptical trainer or a treadmill. I've used Life Fitness equipment in my gym and they are very good. I've seen 'lower end' models from them (still costing £2000). Are they worth it? Are there any alternative brands which I should consider. It'll obviously be used in our home so relatively light useage (just me and my wife).
I guess if the quality warrants it, I may spend up to £2000 on the machine (1yr of gym membership for 2). But are cheaper alternatives neccessarily much worse?
Thanks in advance.

I'm about to get one myself. WHICH? recommends:
Bremshey Orbit Control HRE for about £499.
This chunky elliptical trainer is a pleasure to use: 'exceptionally well-made, very sporty-looking, ultra-smooth and extremely quiet'. With six exercise programmes and a range of resistance levels that our experts think would 'provide a challenge to the fittest and strongest of users', it's a good choice if you're looking for a gym-quality elliptical machine at home. Both the foot platforms and swing arms can be adjusted to suit, and you can vary the intensity of your upper body workout by choosing either the fixed or swinging arms. It's annoying that the moving arms can bang into your forearm if you're holding the static arms. The machine is also difficult to mount, so isn't a great choice for frail or less mobile users. The display has 15 buttons so can look a bit daunting, but it gives accurate feedback, including details of your heart rate, which is measured via either the handgrip or ear-clip heart-rate monitors.
You can buy it for £499 from John Lewis on the high street or from https://www.johnlewis.co.uk, £469 at https://www.totallyfitness.co.uk, or £449 at https://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk.
But the best deal appears to be via Gymworld. It has a similar price, but you can get 5% cashback via Quidco.0 -
Thanks for the reply. Do you know which other machines they compared this with?

I have ordered an elliptical trainer with this company:
http://www.fitness-equipment-clearance.co.uk
The original model I wanted was out of stock and they gave me £50 off the Obit Control S, so I paid £300. It is a refurbished model but has a 15month free warranty. Have looked around at this item on other websites and the likes of John Lewis are selling it for £500.
Also, another key reason I booked with this company was that the delivery is free!0 -
