Adding administration charges

I fell behind with repayments to a catalogue company last year. They kept adding £15 administration charges. Then in October I made an agreement with them to pay £20 a month. At that time I owed £160. I just couldn't afford to make the payment in December and although I wrote and told them they sent me a letter saying they had added another £15 on the outstanding balance. Can they do this? I feel I will never pay this off

You can dispute these charges with them, as they are 'punitive' rather than a fair charge for 'administration'. You can read up on the law behind this argument on this link:

Write to them, and state while you wish to pay the amounts owed, you are disputing their charges and if they don't remove them you will take a Small Claims action against them to recover them.
Wait for their response.0
