What was the question? If you go BR and want to continue trading you HAVE to use the same name as you went bankrupt in. No exceptions.bank
So for example Smilernpb bankrupt and went self employed after would have to trade as 'Smilernpb t/a Book Shop' or if I was already semlf employed as 'Book Shop' would have to stay that way and not change name.0 -

I only came across this site yesterday! And thank you x0 -
Thank you Smile that is what I thought but the OP has stated his wife changed her name as the OR said she couldn't trade under that name

I would get him to check that info. Well hubby was told he had to keep the same name so that anyone knew (if they wanted to check) that he'd previously gone bankrupt. I guess it stops people from setting up new business at new address and appying for more credit accounts in a different name. That's definately what we were told.0 -

Thank you very much. That is what I thought but when OP queried it really made me doubt myself. Especially when he said about the OR.
Please get it checked out OP as I would hate for there to be problems.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

Definately double check otherwise she's in breach of her bankruptcy resrictions (that right?)
Question - what's OP (I'm new! Don't laugh) I know it's gotta be something like original person/poster??? It's been bugging me since we've been answering same threads the past hour!!0 -
Yep that's right original poster.:D
There is a sticky with abbreviations at the top of the front page. It's called 'Glossary for BR and Living with it.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
I really don't see how its anyone's business what you call yourself if you aren't seeking credit. My sole trader business is now in husband's name so we call it what we like!

I don'tknow. All I know is what we were told. I assumed it was so that people would know, or be able to find out if they wanted to, if you'd gone BR. We didn't question it, and to be honest it's not been an issue for hubby.0 -
Hi there me again, made my mind up now and forms delivered tomorrow, fill in and should get date for BR. Should be done and dusted by end of next week. Happy Days, NO MORE STRESS !!!0
