2009/10 lump sum contributions into a SIPP

When can you start to make these?

Is it only after you have earned what you intend to contribute, or can you contribute in April in anticipation of earnings for later in the tax year?

Same date as any other pension contribution. From 6th April 2009.

The tax year is considered one period. It doesnt matter when in the tax year you contribute, as long as its within the tax year.

    Blimey.

Assuming you get the tax rebate in the usual time, the government could end up giving some people an interest free loan!

I'm not the spending sort, Ed. But my family is the dying sort, so I'm weighing the odds.

Unlikely to be something an individual consumer can do on a DIY pension though.
