    Hello Spikey

Please don't get cold feet about contacting CCCS it must have been exhausting juggling that many creditors on your own. I'm sure from what many others have said on here that you will feel great relief once you've talked to them. Holding on until May would just mean prolonging the inevitable and more worry for you. Things will be ok now you have come to terms with your situation!

    Best wishes and good luck,

    ITR

this is such good advice in*the*red

I originally contacted CCCS last year, then got cold feet & cancelled my appointment thinking that by juggling the figures I could get by.

result - I am now several thousand pounds more in debt than if I would have been if I'd have stuck with the appointment.

So I have had to swallow my pride & that has been the most difficult thing as I am a very independent person ring CCCS again & ask for help from them & from the fantastic people on this forum.

I can only say it has been the best thing I have ever done.

There are lots of people here who have just contacted or have appointments soon with CCCS or payplan (mine is in 3 weeks time) so we can all help each other - you are not alone in this :)

I have just got a step account with NatWest with no problem so hopefully yours will be straightforward too.

Good luck, I'm sure you will receive some great advice

also as regards to housekeeping the figures the national debtline give are:

    single person - £35 - 45 per week
    couple - £60 - 75 per week
    each child - £20 - 35 per week

I was amazed at this as I have been spending £200 a month for 4 adults & 1 child! According to their figures I should be spending £140 - £185 a week!

But I figure if my housekeeping is too high then its less money to throw at the debts so its really up to you how quickly you'd like them cleared.

This is one area that you can make alot of savings!
  • Hi there.

From what i have read upto now;-

    INCOME;-

    £2889.00

    HOUSEHOLD BILLS;-
    £1155.34

    £1733.66 LEFT

    lOAN 1 - £299
    LOAN 2 - £310

This leaves £1124.66 But the monies you are paying above come to £1920.00, this means that you are -£795.34 short each month.
I am sure that you have already worked this out yourself on a hundred occasions.

What are the aprs for the credit cards? And the re-payments you are making are these the minimum amounts? What you will need to do straight away is contact all the companies and ask for the aprs if you don't already know, and ask the companies if there are any lower rates available to you.
You will also need to try and get as many of the above cards on 0% deals or life of balances. All this needs doing now, as it's probably costing you that £700+ per month in interest......

Have you nothing to sell on ebay, I am sure with 3 teenagers you have a house full of stuff that good bring in loads of money. Also belongs of yours/oh...every penny must count at the moment and if you both have things you don't use/wear/need stick it on ebay..you will be surprised.

Let us all know asap, what aprs you pay for the above cards/catalogues etc....then I am sure it will be just a case of juggling/switching/pleading for lower rates (to begin with).

    regards,
    pot
