this is the account prior to br. i set up a co op account but my CHB still got paid into it so had to get OR to unfreeze it. i thought that once i took the money out the account would be closed but the sent me a letter saying i could still have the account, but this was the day after i drew the money out and closed it. arhhh!!
so if anyone has one of these basic ones you dont need to switch but co op do DD which nationwide dont.
just abit of info incase you already have it and trying to set up a co op quickly.

Hi Lisa,
Often the bank will say you can keep it and they close it anyway. Did they let you close the account straightaway?

They closed my Nationwide current account but they have left my cashcard account I can still access it through the internet, even though they are one of my creditors.... ooooopsOf all the things I have lost I miss my mind the most0

It's very hit and miss with Nationwide, some they leave, some they don't, they also trawl through the London Gazette and look for account holders and close their accounts. I certainly wouldn't recommend then as a defo post BR account, they're far too fickle.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I agree Peachy which is why I left all accounts with them empty or in the minus. If I started using it they would probably take the money back....Of all the things I have lost I miss my mind the most0

they sent me a letter saying its frozen so i had to get the fax number and get the OR to unfreeze it to get my CHB money out. they then said i could carry on using it as normal as the OR had no interest in it. this was after i qued up for 30mins to get the money outIf you want to see the rainbow ,you gotta put up with some rain0

Glad that they would have let you keep it but as Peachy has said it is NOT a given. Nationwide have been known to close these accounts. As usual in BR there is no straight roads and so many variables.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

Nationwide closed my Flex account after my BR was published in the London Gazette. It didn't have an overdraft.0
